Appeals and Complaints – Learner Rights and Process
Interfima is committed to fairness, transparency, and equal treatment for all learners. Every learner has the right to challenge an assessment result or raise a complaint. All cases are handled independently, following clear procedures and defined timelines.
When to Use This Process
Use this procedure if you want to:

Challenge an assessment result

Request a review of marking

Report a procedural irregularity during assessment

Raise a complaint about service, behaviour, or administration at Interfima or a centre
Stages and Timescales
1. Informal Query
Within 10 working days of result release (via centre or Interfima).
2. Stage 1: Appeal (APP-01 – Formal Review)
Submit within 20 working days.
Decision issued within 15 working days.
3. Stage 2 – Independent Review
Conducted by a subject expert not previously involved.
Decision issued within 15 working days.
4. Stage 3 – Appeals Panel
Panel decision within 20 working days of Stage 2 outcome.
Note: Complaints follow equivalent timelines using Form CMP-01.
Fees

Stage 1 Appeal: £25 (refunded if the appeal is upheld)

How to Submit

Download and complete the relevant form:

Email the completed form and your supporting evidence to: appeals@interfima.org.
You will receive a confirmation of receipt within five (5) working days.
Learners registered through an approved centre may also submit the form to their centre administrator, who will forward it to Interfima.
Confidentiality
All cases are managed under the Interfima Data Protection and Privacy Policy. Only authorised staff directly involved in handling the case will access your information.
Completion of Procedures
At the end of the process, you will receive a Completion of Procedures letter, which explains:

the final decision

the reasons for the outcome
-
any next steps
Any external escalation options (where relevant) are provided in the Completion of Procedures letter.
